L Marie Ltd/Vitality Bucket for Maturing Adults 50+

CSA Member Agreement 2017

We, at L Marie, wish to provide you with fresh, local, seasonal food and you, the member, wish to receive a portion of our harvest. This agreement outlines our shared commitments to that relationship.
Section 1. Introducing Our CSA
A. Becoming a Part of Our CSA
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is one of the most direct ways to communicate with the farmer that is producing your food. Rather than simply purchasing food, our customers become “members for a growing season” of this CSA who receive a portion of our seasonal harvest.
Our CSA runs for 5 of weeks, from July 14, 2017 to August 11,2017. Members are responsible for showing up at  the designated area each week/every other week to pick up your share of freshly harvested produce. You will generally receive the equivalent of one grocery bag of produce, with two bags during peak season. Detailed information regarding pick-up is discussed below in Section 3. Variety and quantity may vary as described below in Section 2.
B. Our Growing Practices
L Marie Ltd is a USDA Certified Organic Growing Company. Organic vegetable produce is grown without using specific conventional Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) pesticides, fertilizers made with synthetic ingredients or sewage sludge, bio engineering, or ionizing radiation. For more information about organic production please ask. We’d be happy to tell you more.”
C. The Products We Suggest for 2017
The outline below shows some of the vegetables we hope to harvest and when you may see them in your shares. This chart is based on our best estimate, but of course weather, pests, and other events may affect actual production.
 Estimated Harvested Month/Crops
Lettuce, Kale, Spinach, Beet, Greens, Peas, Radishes, Collard, Swiss Chard, Carrots, Kale, Leeks, Radish, Turnip, Arugula etc.
July to August
Beets, Broccoli, Carrots, Sweet Peppers (*hot peppers), Collard Greens, Cabbage,  Summer Squash, Spinach, Peas, Celery, Zucchini, Tomatoes, Beans,Cucumbers, etc.
*Optional item: hot peppers will only be given to CSA members upon request*
Section 2. Our Shared Commitments
A. Sharing in the Risk of Crop Failure
We will do our best to provide you with a bountiful share each week. The quantity of produce, however, may vary from week-to-week/month-to-month/season-to-season, due to extreme weather, insects, or other production factors despite our best efforts. By joining our CSA, you are agreeing to share the risk of crop failure with us and other members. In the unlikely event of a crop failure, our procedure is as follows:
• If only a small portion of crops fail, we compensate for the failed crops by filling your share with other crops grown on the farm that are ready for harvest at that time.
• If a large portion of crops fail, we may not be able to deliver any product in some weeks. B. Segregation of production for CSA:
In addition to our CSA, our farm sells to farmers markets. Although production is not segregated, our CSA receives priority. After filling our CSA share with the weeks harvest first, the remainder is sold to our other markets. When productions of our crops are especially abundant, we pack as much as possible into your share. However, we don’t want to overwhelm our members or deliver so much produce that it goes to waste. When we feel that members have received enough of certain crops, we handle the surplus by selling it at the farmers market/etc. Please note that because we produce some items exclusively for maturing adults, you may see our products at the farmers market/ etc. that you will not receive in your CSA share. For instance hot peppers will only be given to CSA members upon request.
Section 3. Picking Up Shares
You are responsible for picking up your share each week from your drop site.
  • Downtown Mansfield's Farmer's Market at the Carrousel, 101 1/2 North Main Street, Mansfield, Ohio. Starting Jully 14, 2017- August 11,2017. from 10:00AM - 1:00PM
You are responsible for observing our drop site rules, which are as follows:
1. Pick up your share within the time frame stated. Although we deliver high-quality produce to the site, it will decline quickly if not picked up in time.
2. Be respectful of our drop site hosts’ property.
3. Follow additional rules posted at your drop site regarding parking/use of certain entrances/boxes.
4. Each member will be required to sign for their share at each pickup.
Who can pick up their share? If you cannot pick-up your share, you must arrange for someone else to pick it up for you and notify a CSA member of the change. The person picking up your share must present a legible ID, before they will be allowed to receive it. You are responsible for explaining the pick-up location and procedures to your substitute. Shares that are not retrieved within the pick-up time will be donated to a charity or food pantry/donated to the drop site host/sold at the farmers market.
We take the safety of your food seriously. For your added protection, please wash all produce before eating.
Section 4. Member Fees
By selling membership in advance of the growing season, CSA reduces the burden of up-front costs for the farmer. Your membership fees provide us with money to purchase seed, soil amendment and growing supplies before the season starts, and we appreciate your commitment.
One Third Share Option: 5 weeks available for $75. This is for a single senior person, and makes a great gift.
If you choose to pay the membership fee upfront, include the total amount due, made payable to L Marie Ltd. If you choose to pay the membership fee in installments, please contact us for the dates. All payments are non-refundable after 6/30/2017
Section 5. Communicating with Us
